In the latest salvo against fast-food chains, KFC is being sued for frying its chicken in cooking oils that contain trans fats, which can contribute to heart disease and diabetes. Here's the skinny on the fat fight:

Why doesn't KFC use a healthier oil? Like most fast-food chains, KFC cooks with partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, which doesn't turn rancid as quickly as healthier, nonhydrogenated oils. "Extra crispy" chicken may also taste better when fried in this oil. "The flavor is crunchier, and you don't get that feeling of fat coating your mouth," says Ted Labuza, a food scientist at the University of Minnesota. But the oil does have dangerous trans-fatty acids.

What's so bad about trans fat? It raises one's bad cholesterol, which boosts the risk of coronary disease. A federal dietary panel has recommended that people consume no more than 2 g per day.

Is KFC's food really that unhealthy? The company says its products "meet or exceed all government regulations." But as the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the activist group behind the lawsuit, points out, a three-piece extra-crispy combo meal contains as much as 15 g of trans fat--more than a person should ingest in a week.

What are other chains doing? Wendy's plans to eliminate trans fats from its food; the Cheesecake Factory is doing so already. McDonald's backpedaled on a promise to cut trans fats and says it's studying alternative oils, as is Burger King.

since i'm currently burnt out from studying, let me tell you how my watch works. this watch is commonly know as the world time, as by looking at the watch, you can know the time in any city around the world! the hour and minute hands show the current time, in the country which you are in. for me, it's sydney, and to most of you guys, singapore. by the way, patek philippe's world time watches usually fetches the highest prices in auction markets as it is so sought after, usually in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OR MILLIONS. no joke.

Then, the watch dial has an outer ring, the one with many cities names on it, the names of cities which represents the different 24 timezones (for singapore, it's hong kong), and the inner ring, which is subdivided into 24 a.m/p.m hours. these two ring simultaneously allows the reading of any city in the world without any adjustments! Both these rings are rotates depending which country you're in and what time is it. both rings rotate clockwise, however, the outer ring dosen't rotate until you push the rectangular button.

to put it more simply, for my pictures, the time on the last photo, it shows it is roughly around 2.36am sdyney time (sydney is at the 12 o'clock position on the outer dial, and 2 on the inner dial, meaning it's night).
then, by looking at the outer dial, i can know the time in any country. for example, paris would then be 5.36pm as the inner ring shows it between 17 and 18. new york would be almost 12pm, as you can see below new york, it's in between the 'sun' and 11. so, as you can see, the time in any city can be told as long as you know which timezone it is in, and presto!

Now, what happens when you army guys go off to taiwan of xiao ling running off to romantic france? you guys would push the button at the '10 o'clock position, the rectangular button, and the outer ring (the one with the cities on it) would rotate. rotate until the city's timezone is at the 12 o'clock position. so, it'll be set to that local time. now, when you look back, you'll do exactly as what i said above, and you can find out the time back in singapore or any city! this would be so much more convenient for you to know what time it is in the country of interest, and for people who do business, what time is it at you're client's/supplier's city! it saves the hassel of adding and minus hours to the time and hence making a mistake. thus, a simple glance at the watch and you'll know the time!

to make this watch such a wonder, it's not just that it tells time in the different cities, it's that the watch dosen't lose it's accuracy when you rotate the outer ring! this is because the hour hand is 'coupled' and can jump in increments of an hour without affecting the minute hand! see how rolex is inferior to a patek. and to top it all off, this watch has the geneva seal (something like 0.01% of all swiss watches are certified with it, which rolex isn't even certified with) and the case and clasp is made out of solid 950 gold (platinum).

now, as looks can be deciving, most people would think this watch is stainless steel, or white gold, but as a true watch connoisseur who knows his stuff, some things need not be told, and having a blue dial face, it translates this model to be platinum, so those people who own the white gold version out there, no chance trying to pass off yours as the platinum version! losers!

oh well, i guess you guys are still quite confused about the mechanism of this watch, but i'll try to explain it to you when i'm back. anyway, don't bet too much on the world cup! it's not 'healthy'!
